Learn and Experience Salesian Spirituality in the Inner City
Ever since this expression of living the Salesian Charism in the inner city began in 1989, there has been a growing interest from the lay community. Lay men and women of many different faiths and traditions have become a part of the Praying Presence of the monastery. The number of ways and opportunities continues to expand. Below is a list of some opportunities.
Salesian Mondays
The second Monday of each month, September through May, all are welcomed for supper at 6PM, a Salesian theme presentation and discussion at 7PM, closing with Night Prayer at 8:15PM.
Community Service Events
The Sisters sponsor and participate in activities for children and adults in the neighborhood that provide neighborhood clean -up, day retreats, tutoring, educational programs for teens, Spanish lessons, and on a small basis, provide for sharing of food and clothing . These events need the help of all willing. Watch for announcements on the web Calendar of Events.
Visitation Companions
Companions commit themselves to further study of Salesian Spirituality, participate in the ministry of the monastery when able and make a half day *retreat twice a year.
For more information please contact the Sisters or MaryAnn Pearson.
* The most recent retreat was directed by MaryAnn Pearson and Sr. Mary Margaret. The theme was our life vocation based on Parker Palmer’s book, “Let Your Life Speak.” –Francis de Sales’ quote, “Let us be who we are and be that well” was explored by each of the attendees. It was a most inspiring retreat.
